Auto Responder
Auto Responder answers chat for you. Add a trigger (a word or sentence), and when a member says it, Tiko can reply, react, or both.
· @Chungas
What it does
- Reply: a plain message or a styled embed, with the member's name and other details filled in.
- Reactions: up to 20 emoji added to the member's message.
- Where it works: limit a trigger to certain channels or roles, or ignore some.
Each server can have up to 50 triggers. Auto Responder is on by default, so a trigger works as soon as it has a reply or reactions.
Opening the panel
You need the Manage Server permission. In the setup dashboard, go to /setup → Fine-tune → Auto Responder → Setup.
The panel shows your triggers five per page. Only the person who opened it can use its buttons, and it closes after 10 minutes without use. Press Done to close it yourself.
Adding a trigger
Press Add Trigger, type the word or sentence (up to 200 characters), pick a match type and submit. The panel jumps to the page with your new trigger.
| Match type | Answers when | “hi” example |
|---|---|---|
| Exact word (default) | The trigger appears as whole words. | Answers “hi all” and “well, HI!”, but not “this”. |
| Wildcard | The trigger appears anywhere, even inside words. | Also answers “this”. |
- Capitals, fancy full-width letters and hidden characters don't matter: “Hello”, “HELLO” and “Hello” are the same trigger.
- The same trigger can't be added twice, and a wildcard needs at least 2 characters.
- If something's wrong, a private note lists it with Edit and retry, which reopens the box with what you typed.
- Remove deletes a trigger at once. Press Undo on the note that appears to bring it back with its reply, reactions and rules.
Setting a reply
Press Set Response under a trigger. A private card opens with the reply, reactions and where it works.
- Message: type the reply (up to 2000 characters) and submit. It saves at once and the card shows how it will look.
- Embed: opens the same editor as welcome and leave messages, with a live preview. Add a title, text, fields, author, colour and images. Nothing saves until Save & Close.
- Clear: removes the reply. Press Confirm Clear to be sure.
Switching type keeps your text: a message becomes the embed's description, and back again.
| Variable | Becomes |
|---|---|
<@user> | A mention of the member (the only ping allowed). |
{nickname} / {username} | The member's server name / username. |
{user_avatar} | The member's avatar link. |
{server_name} / {server_member_count} / {server_icon} | Server details. |
{channel} | The channel the trigger was said in. |
{timestamp} | The time of the reply. |
Server emoji can be typed as :name:.
Reactions
The Reactions part of the card adds emoji to the member's message, up to 20 (Discord's limit per message). They work with or without a reply.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Add server emoji | Pick one or more of your server's emoji; use ◀ ▶ to page through big lists. |
| Search | Type a name such as gato or heart. The menu shows matching server emoji, then standard emoji. |
| Type | Edit the whole list as text: paste emoji, type :tada: or :your_emoji:, reorder or delete. Saving replaces the list, and an empty box removes all. |
| Remove | Pick the reactions to take off. |
The same emoji is never added twice (❤ and ❤️ count as one). Emoji from servers Tiko isn't in can't be used.
Where it works
The bottom of the card shows a line like Where · All channels · Everyone. Press Change to set four rules, then Back.
| Rule | Empty means |
|---|---|
| Only in channels | Any channel |
| Ignore channels | None ignored |
| Only for roles | Anyone |
| Ignore roles | None ignored |
- Each pick saves at once; empty a picker to clear that rule. You can type in the pickers to search.
- Ignore always wins over Only.
- Picking a channel covers its threads; picking a category covers every channel in it.
- Up to 25 channels or roles per rule. Triggers with rules show Limited on the panel.
Turning it on and off
Auto Responder is on unless you switch it off. Turning it off keeps every trigger; turning it back on brings them back.
In the setup dashboard, go to /setup → Fine-tune → Auto Responder → Disable / Enable.
While it's off, the panel header says Off in Fine-tune.
How it answers and troubleshooting
One trigger answers each message: the longest matching trigger wins, so “good morning” beats “morning”. The same trigger answers a channel at most once every 3 seconds. Bots, webhooks and DMs are ignored.
| If nothing happens | Check |
|---|---|
| No reply or reactions at all | Check that the trigger has a reply or reactions set, and Auto Responder isn't switched off. |
| It answers in one channel but not another | Check the trigger's channel rules, and that Tiko can see and send messages there. |
| Some members don't get answers | Check the trigger's role rules. |
| An exact-word trigger misses | The word may sit inside another word (hi in this); use Wildcard. |
| The embed arrives as plain text | Tiko is missing Embed Links in that channel. |
| No reactions | Tiko is missing Add Reactions or Read Message History. |
| One custom emoji is missing | That emoji was deleted or Tiko can't use it; the others still get added. |
| It answered once, then not again | Wait 3 seconds; that's the spam guard. |
